The Lodging of Roquenégade in the country of Aude
The particulars of the Gite
Picture a traditional style cottage: with stone walls, a Roman tiled-roof, old chestnut doorframes, lavender-blue shutters, and a paved-sandstone path, leading up to the glazed front door.
The front door opens onto the living area: a spacious open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining room, leading on to the South-facing terrace.
One large bedroom with bathroom is accessed by the wooden staircase next to the front door.
Under the terrace is a smaller, yet independent bedroom with en-suite bathroom. It is accessed from the kitchen via an outside staircase.
With gas central heating and a radiator in each room, the gite is comfortable all year-round.
The lounge-dining room
With almost 40m2 and six windows, the lounge-dining room is the most spacious part of the house. It is also warm and rustic, with walls of stonework complimenting a traditional lime finish.
The furniture is elegant and comfortable, comprised of a sofa bed (140x200cm matress), a wrought iron and pine dining table for 10, a splendid walnut side-board, and a large display cabinet. Four wicker armchairs and a wrought iron and glass coffee table complete the lounge area.
A good stereo system means you can listen to your CD’s. And the nearest television set is in the « Manhattan » bar in the neighbouring village of Montlaur.
For the nights, the lighting is adjustable thanks to a four-headed movable halogen lamp.
